There are many different states of arrested development
That many face on the road to enlightenment

Some people struggle with their own humility
And pull out all the stops to avoid reality
Rationalising and revising, justifying anything that obscures the lying
And hijacks the revelations in their tracks - anything to relax

Other people think that to deal with humanity
They need to prey upon the vulnerability
Of others and control them steadily
Easy enough if they escape too readily

Wedded bliss - the two states reminisce
Of all the times they conspired to avoid reactions
… and the consequences of their actions

Some people manage to evade these states
They learn to deal and relate
And to not just be all out for what they can get

So… how are we just traders
And nothing more than that?
How are we just creatures
And simple ones at that?
All I know is if you feed it
You can bet your life you need it as well
