Know The Darkness

'Know The Darkness' is the first single from the upcoming fourth Mailman album 'The Lighthouse & The Rocks'.

In February 2021, I attended a four day online songwriting retreat hosted by one of his idols, Squeeze legend Chris Difford. At the start of the first day, Chris asked the attendees to each choose a song with great lyrics and read the first verse to the group. He then picked a phrase from each person's choice and gave it back to them as a suggested song title. We were all to go away, write our songs then come back and present them at 4pm.

I chose 'Vincent' by Don McClean and 'Know The Darkness' was the title that came back. By 4pm the song was written and presented in it's basic form.

An ode to former UK Prime Minister 'Bojo The Clown' and his abominable ilk. A tribute to all who have been impacted by their pandemic negligence and outright criminality. A rallying cry to all who see through their veneer to stand up and be heard. A hopeful wish that the days of clueless leaders wreaking havoc on all our lives will one be numbered.
